Easy Overnight Oatmeal

These easy overnight oatmeal cups come together fast with just a few healthy ingredients. Whip them up the night before to make breakfast a breeze!

I don’t know how things are in your house, but in our house weekday mornings are the WORST. Trying to get my kids up and out the door on time five days a week is just about enough to drive me insane.

This means that anything that can help our mornings run just a little tiny bit smoother is a huge win in my book. Bonus points for being healthy and delicious (and cute!)

My kids love these little oatmeal cups, and I love them because they literally take seconds to throw together in the evening, while saving us at least 20 precious minutes of frustration in the morning. You can use whatever fruit or berries you have on hand, or use flavored yogurt to mix it up even more.

Any way you throw it together, it is the breakfast sanity saver that might just change your life!

And now to actually make it to school on time….

    • You could use steel cut oats but you might need to up the amount of milk to 2 cups.

  • Jars in picture look like half pint jars, sold as jelly jars.

  • Sounds great--but it's just the hubby and me, and he's not much on oatmeal or yogurt. Do you think these little capped jars without the fruit added would be able to be kept in the fridge for 2 or 3 days? If so, I'd make half the recipe and have one each a.m. for a few days, heated up with a little more milk if needed, and add the fruit then. I already eat homemade yogurt many mornings. Kind of hate to do yet another task every night for one little jar but love the idea of having real oatmeal ready to heat up! Instant is awful and cooked leftover oatmeal kept in the fridge just isn't that good reheated the next day. Tried that a couple times and it was kind of gummy/sticky. Thanks!

  • Hi I do this yogurt but I add chia seeds and pecans it's great for breakfast it's filing and healthy so you can't go wrong.

  • Thanks for your post - I will have to start making these again! I just use water or coconut water with no milk or yoghurt and by morning it turns into a kind of oat milk I also add some dried fruit, seeds and nuts to the overnight oat mix and add a banana in the morning - yum!

  • Will it still turn out fine if you skip out on the yogurt? I'm not a fan of yogurt unless the taste is heavily masked.

    • Yes! I use soymilk only. I add some hemp seeds and cinnamon too.

  • Love this idea! We are trying very hard to eat really healthy and this recipe is a great fit. Have you ever tried it with frozen fruit?

    Thanks!

  • I give my children oatmeal and yogurt and fruits, too in the morning since they were babies.
But since my son hates fruits I put everything in the mixer.
The fruits are so sweet that I don't have to add any other sugar.
    They love their breakfast-mash.
They don't want bread, they don't want rolls, they want breakfast-mash.
    And it is soo healthy!
Just plain yogurt, apples and oatmeal.

  • These would be great for our busy mornings. A nice healthy breakfast that is super quick.
The kids could choose their own toppings to add in the morning to make them personalized for each one. Thank you for the idea!

  • These look great! I have made some without yogurt and just milk and they warm up very easily and taste great. I will have give it a try with the yogurt added. Thanks for the recipe!
